The Thai Bankers' Association announced a significant upgrade in financial transaction security. Beginning 14 Feb 2026 GMT+7, all Mobile Banking applications of Thai banks will only support devices running Android 10 or higher. This measure aims to enhance protection against increasingly severe and complex cyber threats, since older operating system versions may have security vulnerabilities that no longer receive updates to counter modern attack methods.
Android smartphone users are advised to check their operating system version to ensure uninterrupted access to online transactions. This can be done by going to Settings, selecting About Phone, then Software Information to view the current Android version. If the device runs a version older than Android 10, users should immediately update to the latest software version if their device supports updates, to maximize security.
Devices unable to upgrade to Android 10 may be unable to access banking applications after the specified date. Currently, most smartphone manufacturers have extended software support policies, with some models receiving updates for up to six years to meet international security standards and support long-term use of financial apps.
