Samsung is adding Perplexity to enhance AI functionality on the Galaxy AI platform, launching it first on the Galaxy S26 Series.
Samsung announced the expansion of AI services on Galaxy AI, which previously featured only Gemini. For the Galaxy S26 Series, users will have a new option: Perplexity, accessible via the voice command 'Hey Plex.'
Other AI services like Google's remain accessible through voice commands such as 'Hey Google' or 'Hey Bixby' as before. This move indicates that Samsung's Galaxy AI is not limited to Google's Gemini but also includes AI from other developers.
Regarding the introduction of Perplexity onthe Galaxy S26 Series, which includes the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, it is not yet clear whether there will be any special privileges for users of Samsung’s flagship smartphones in early 2026.
Perplexity will be embedded in the Galaxy S26 Series at the software level, covering Samsung's core applications such as Samsung Notes, Gallery, Calendar, and Reminder, as well as certain third-party apps. Additionally, users can quickly access Perplexity either by using the dedicated voice command or by holding the side button for context-aware assistance.
Although the 'Hey Plex' feature of Perplexity is initially launched as a key feature of the Galaxy S26 Series, there is a strong possibility that Samsung will expand it to other Galaxy smartphone models in 2026.
