Samsung adds Perplexity to enhance AI functionality on the Galaxy AI platform, making its debut on the Galaxy S26 Series.
Samsung announced it is expanding AI services on Galaxy AI beyond the existing Gemini. The Galaxy S26 Series will offer users a new option: Perplexity, accessible via the voice command 'Hey Plex.'
Other AI services, such as Google's, will still be accessible through voice commands like 'Hey Google' or 'Hey Bixby' as before. This move indicates that Samsung's Galaxy AI is not limited to Google's Gemini but also includes AI from other developers.
Regarding Perplexity's integration on the Galaxy S26 Series—which includes the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra—there is no clarity yet on whether Samsung will offer any exclusive benefits for users of its early 2026 flagship smartphones.
Perplexity is embedded at the software level on the Galaxy S26 Series, covering Samsung's core applications such as Samsung Notes, Gallery, Calendar, and Reminder, as well as some third-party apps. Users can quickly access Perplexity either by a dedicated voice command or by holding the side button for context-aware assistance.
Although the 'Hey Plex' feature of Perplexity is initially introduced as a key capability of the Galaxy S26 Series, Samsung is very likely to extend it to other Galaxy smartphone models in 2026.
