Farewell to Privacy Screen Protectors! Android Phone Makers to Adopt Privacy Display Technology This Year

Digital Chat Station revealed that Chinese smartphone manufacturers are preparing to introduce technology similar to Samsung's Privacy Display as early as this September.

Samsung's privacy screen technology called Privacy Display, featured prominently on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra this year, is likely to inspire other brands to adopt similar ideas soon.

According to Digital Chat Station, leading Chinese Android smartphone makers plan to implement similar technology in their flagship smartphones by late 2026. This technology is designed to adjust the viewing angle of the screen to prevent nearby people from secretly seeing sensitive personal information.

Digital Chat Station cited reliable insider sources naming Chinese smartphone brands set to adopt this technology, including Honor, Xiaomi, Oppo, and even OnePlus. The earliest rollout is expected in September, aligning with the launch schedules of these four brands' flagship models.

The expansion of Privacy Display technology reflects how privacy is becoming a new standard that consumers prioritize in today's premium smartphones.

Regarding its mechanism, Ice Universe reports that Privacy Display uses a light control system with internal openings within the screen panel. When voltage is applied, light scatters in specific directions, causing viewers from side angles to see a darkened or blurred screen, while users looking straight ahead still enjoy sharp clarity and normal color quality. This effectively addresses screen stability and brightness issues better than traditional privacy screen protectors.
