Apple has introduced the latest Mac laptop models, the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, both powered by the Apple M5 chip, emphasizing their dedicated support for AI workloads.
Following the launch of the iPhone 17e and iPad Air M4, the next products revealed are the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro M5, which support AI tasks with processing speeds up to four times faster than the previous M4 chip, while also enhancing 3D work with greater detail.
The new MacBook Air with the M5 chip offers an improved battery life lasting up to 18 hours, exceeding the Intel chips previously used by Apple by over six hours.
In terms of hardware, the MacBook Air M5 has upgraded its Center Stage camera to 12 megapixels, delivering sharper video calls. Connectivity options include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a MagSafe connector, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The most significant update for the MacBook Air M5 this year is the minimum storage capacity, now set at 512GB to accommodate increasingly large files.
The MacBook Air M5 comes in two screen sizes: 13 inches starting at 36,900 baht and 15 inches starting at 44,900 baht. It is available in four colors: Sky Blue, Midnight Black, Starlight Cream, and Silver. However, the release date has not yet been announced.
The MacBook Pro M5 is designed for more specialized work, especially for developers and AI professionals. It offers powerful chip options: Apple M5 Pro and Apple M5 Max, which process LLM prompts up to four times faster than the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips and generate AI images up to eight times faster than the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips.
Apple expects this to enable AI researchers to train models directly on the MacBook Pro M5. The device also supports video editing, 3D rendering, and music production tasks.
The MacBook Pro M5 starts with storage options of 1TB for the M5 Pro chip and 2TB for the M5 Max chip. It is available in two screen sizes: 14 inches starting at 56,900 baht and 16 inches at 92,900 baht. The colors offered are Space Black and Silver. Additionally, there is an optional Nano-texture accessory to reduce glare and reflections when used in bright environments.
Apple has not yet disclosed the official release dates for the MacBook Pro M5.
