After last week's new product launch event, Apple may introduce a new product this year, upgrading the MacBook to support a touchscreen system.
Mark Gurman, a reporter for Bloomberg News, revealed via the Power On newsletter that Apple might launch a new MacBook model late this year, possibly named MacBook Ultra, which would be a new segment positioned as the highest-end above the current MacBook Pro.
The highlight of the MacBook Ultra is expected to be an OLED touchscreen display. The device will be thinner than before, with energy-saving features, offering a user experience similar to the iPad Pro.
Additionally, the MacBook Ultra is anticipated to feature a redesign after many years, incorporating Dynamic Island like on the iPhone to increase screen usability, and adding the C2 modem chip to support 5G wireless connectivity.
However, due to these premium features, the MacBook Ultra is very likely to have a significantly higher price, expected to be at least 20 percent more expensive than the current MacBook Pro. This is because the OLED display is very costly, along with the added new technologies, making a high retail price unsurprising.
