SimilarWeb released statistics on the growth of AI tools over the past year, ending February 2026 compared to February 2025, revealing that Gemini's website usage surged by as much as 643 percent, reflecting rapidly rising global user popularity.
When comparing these figures to the giant ChatGPT, it showed growth of only 37 percent, while Perplexity grew 39 percent during the same period.
These numbers indicate that early-generation AI platforms are beginning to slow down, but Google, benefiting from its large company ecosystem, still sees a leap in its user base growth. Although it is not yet the number one in the AI market, its growth rate trend is a key signal of shifting user popularity.
Among other competitors, Grok and Claude continue to show noteworthy growth rates, with Grok's users increasing by 480 percent and Claude growing 297 percent. Though still behind Gemini considerably, these groups are expanding faster than the market average.
Conversely, DeepSeek was the only service to see traffic decline compared to the previous year, reflecting intensifying competition.
