The memory shortage crisis has poisoned production costs, driving them to unprecedented heights and leading Oppo and OnePlus to prepare for smartphone price increases.
The global smartphone market is facing a major challenge, particularly as Oppo and OnePlus plan to raise smartphone prices, effective 16 March 2026 in China.
This decision results from shortages of key components such as RAM and storage space, with forecasts suggesting the smartphone market could contract by up to 13% in 2026, marking a sharper decline than during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oppo announced online, according to GizmoChina, that rising costs of key components have continuously increased, making it necessary to adjust prices for some existing products to maintain quality and user experience. The price changes will take effect at 00:00 on 16 March 2026, initially covering entry-level and mid-range smartphones.
The product groups affected by the price increase include Oppo's A Series, K Series, and all OnePlus smartphone models.
However, flagship smartphones such as the Oppo Find Series, Reno Series, and Oppo Pad Series tablets will keep their current prices and are not affected by this price adjustment at this time.
Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether similar price adjustments will occur in major markets like the United States and other regions.
