The update highlights five major features. First, Apple Music introduces a new tool called Playlist Playground that uses AI to create playlists from typed text, such as "Monday morning songs." The system automatically selects 25 songs, names the playlist, and generates cover art. Additionally, the Concerts Near You feature notifies users of upcoming concerts by favorite artists nearby. There are also improvements to full-screen album displays and the ability to add songs to multiple playlists simultaneously.
On the communication front, iOS 26.4 adds new emojis to enhance chat interactions, and CarPlay integrates AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini through voice commands. The update also introduces an Ambient Music widget for playing themed music, such as for relaxation or focus. Moreover, hints have been found suggesting future support for Apple TV on car displays.
To improve security, Apple has decided to enable the Stolen Device Protection feature by default for all users. This system requires biometric authentication to modify critical information and imposes a one-hour waiting period before proceeding with changes.
Apple believes this will help prevent criminals from easily locking owners out of their Apple Accounts.
Finally, the Health app update adds an indicator showing the average bedtime over the past two weeks, helping users better understand their sleep habits.
