15 Percent of Americans Willing to Work Under AI Bosses

A recent survey suggests that people are becoming more open to AI, using chatbots for tasks and scheduling, but concerns about job loss due to AI remain high.

A recent Quinnipiac University survey, conducted between 19-23 Mar 2026 GMT+7 with 1,397 adult respondents in the U.S., found that 15 percent are willing to work under AI bosses or AI supervision, especially for task assignment and direct scheduling.

However, most people still prefer working under human bosses. Nonetheless, the trend of using AI in managerial roles is clearly growing, especially in reducing organizational management layers. For example, global tech giant Amazon has started deploying AI to replace middle management, leading to thousands of managerial layoffs. Similarly, at Uber, engineers created an AI model of the CEO to listen to and filter ideas before actual meetings.

Despite increasing acceptance of technology, Americans remain deeply concerned about job security. Seventy percent of survey respondents believe AI advancements will reduce human employment opportunities.

Moreover, over 30 percent of current employees clearly worry that AI may replace their specific roles, eventually eliminating their original jobs. This reflects a paradox where people accept the efficiency and fairness of algorithm-based management yet fear losing their positions.

At the same time, workers fear that these tools will gradually displace humans in the workforce, potentially leading to an era where billion-dollar companies could operate with just one human employee alongside an entire AI staff.
