The new iPhone Ultra model in Apple's iPhone lineup is encountering production problems, adjusting its manufacturing timeline to August, and will be the most expensive in the iPhone series.
The iPhone Ultra, Apple’s first foldable smartphone eagerly awaited by many, has reportedly faced production issues. According to DigiTimes, the mass production originally scheduled for June has been postponed to August due to complications during engineering testing aimed at fine-tuning the design before actual manufacturing begins.
Although some Japanese media outlets have speculated that the delay might extend into 2027, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman believes Apple will still be able to launch the iPhone Ultra alongside the iPhone 18 in September 2026 as planned.
However, the nearly two-month production delay could directly impact the initial supply, potentially resulting in very limited availability compared to market demand at launch.
Regarding the device details, the iPhone Ultra is positioned as the highest-end model, surpassing the iPhone Pro Max, with a 5.5-inch external display that expands to 7.8 inches when unfolded.
Its main competitor is Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold. The price is expected to approach 100,000 baht, with overseas pricing estimated between $2,000 and $2,500 USD, equivalent to about 70,000 to 90,000 baht, making the iPhone Ultra Apple’s most premium smartphone by default.
