Apple Store Enables Complete Apple Watch Software Recovery In-Store Without Sending to Central Service

Apple resolves issues of device freezes and Boot Loop using a new Mac-connected device, preparing to offer this service at Apple Stores and authorized service centers by the end of this month.

Apple is set to upgrade after-sales service for wearable devices like the Apple Watch. Retail sources say Apple Stores and authorized service providers (AASP) will soon be able to recover Apple Watch software directly in-store without sending the device to a central repair center as before, significantly reducing user wait times.

Currently, if an Apple Watch encounters software issues that cannot be fixed through iPhone recovery—such as freezing on the logo screen (Boot Loop) or failed updates rendering the device unusable (Bricked)—users must leave their device for the store to ship it via mail to the Apple Repair Center, since stores lack equipment to directly access the internal system of the watch.

However, reports indicate that by the end of this month, a special connection device will be introduced in stores. This will enable Apple Store staff to connect the Apple Watch to a Mac and immediately restore the operating system. Although previous watchOS versions included a wireless recovery feature via iPhone, it had significant limitations and often failed with severe software problems.

Repair challenges have increased since the launch of the Apple Watch Series 7 because Apple removed the wired Diagnostic Port and switched to a wireless process instead.

This return to an in-store complete repair service directly addresses the problem, eliminating the need for users to wait many days to get their devices back.
