OnePlus Plans Merger with Realme Amid Global Operational Crisis

OnePlus and realme, two brands under the same corporate umbrella, may merge both in the Chinese and international markets.

OnePlus and realme, two smartphone brands under the supervision ofOppo, are rumored to be merging their management operations both in China and abroad. Reports say the parent company aims to downsize and address various constraints affecting OnePlus's international market efforts.

Digital Chat Station reported that the merger of OnePlus and realme brands will include management of product centers, marketing departments, and after-sales services to share production resources, reduce costs, and optimize raw material use.

This move comes amid rumors that OnePlus is considering ending its operations in the European market by April. The company is currently reassessing its product management strategy while continuing staff reductions, reflecting the fact that it has not launched new global products in recent months. The only recent news was about the OnePlus Watch 4 in early January, but release dates and pricing remain unclear.

Although the merger between OnePlus and realme has not been confirmed as a complete brand shutdown globally, it represents a significant organizational restructuring and a reduction of brand overlap, given both operate under Oppo's management.

However, the challenge ahead lies in managing brand differences: OnePlus has a substantial customer base in the US and Europe, while realme’s main markets are India and Southeast Asia.
