Recent reports reveal that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will undergo major hardware camera upgrades, including support for AI features in the iOS 27 operating system.
Mark Gurman, a journalist from Bloomberg News, disclosed that Apple will change the camera hardware on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. However, the report did not specify what technology Apple will use to enhance the photography capabilities.
The most likely upgrade for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max cameras is an adjustable aperture, which will allow users to control focus and depth of field. Meanwhile, the telephoto lens is expected to have a wider aperture to improve low-light photography compared to previous models.
Notably, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will ship with the iOS 27 operating system, with more details to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2026, taking place from 8 to 12 June.
New iOS 27 features related to photography include Siri gaining the ability to analyze image data, along with AI-based photo editing tools integrated into the Photos app.
