Microsoft has upgraded task management within Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, enabling users to directly select the AI engine most appropriate for their work.
Microsoft announced the global official launch of Agentic AI automation capabilities within Microsoft Copilot for the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications. The focus is on enhancing efficiency in handling complex, multi-step commands directly within documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
This update introduces a key feature allowing users to switch between AI models from both Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's ChatGPT directly within the Microsoft 365 suite. This lets users choose the model best suited to the nature of their tasks and content context, improving accuracy in data analysis and content creation.
Regarding the interface and usage, the new Copilot version is integrated as a core feature in the toolbar. The system can anticipate user needs and suggest next steps to reduce repetitive work time, while users retain full control to review, edit, or confirm AI-generated results at every stage.
This new capability is now available to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft 365 Premium subscribers. It also extends to general users of Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans, accessible immediately via desktop and mobile applications.
