Google has added a new tool to the latest Android 17 operating system, designed especially for content creators. The key feature, Screen Reactions, along with a partnership with Meta, aims to enhance the quality of the Instagram app.
The new Android 17 operating system includes a feature called Screen Reactions, which allows users to record their screen video along with the front camera simultaneously. The system automatically overlays the user's face onto whatever is displayed on the screen—be it video clips, scrolling through comments, or product reviews—reducing the steps needed to export video and audio files for editing on other devices while preserving the natural feel of the content.
In addition to adding features to the operating system, Google has partnered with Meta to upgrade the Instagram application on Android 17 to a performance level comparable to iOS on iPhone. This enhancement leverages hardware capabilities such as Ultra HDR for realistic color recording and display, video stabilization during recording, and support for Night Sight mode for low-light photo and video capture directly within the app.
Further additions include AI-powered on-device video editing features, like resolution enhancement and noise separation to remove wind or background sounds, as well as improvements to the app’s interface to better suit tablet usage.
