Analysis of the future direction of the iPhone Ultra model suggests that its redesigned form may be the key factor in attracting users more effectively than smart features.
A survey by technology news outlet CNET revealed that, based on a study of smartphone user behavior in the United States regarding the direction of the foldable iPhone—likely to be named iPhone Ultra—14 percent of iPhone owners showed interest in this model and were willing to switch to the new iPhone format. This figure is slightly higher than the general smartphone user average, where only 13 percent expressed interest in foldable designs.
However, from CNET's perspective, this interest level is still relatively low. In contrast, analysts view the figure as surprisingly high, especially considering that the iPhone Ultra is still a niche market device, with no official announcements or confirmed launch dates from Apple.
A key challenge potentially affecting the 14 percent interest rate is the expected retail price, which is predicted to exceed 2,000 US dollars, or about 70,000 baht, for the foldable iPhone. Such a high price may deter consumers due to its expense.
Beyond design, the survey also highlighted other factors motivating consumers to change phones. Only 12 percent valued the integration of AI into the operating system, which may reflect that AI features are not as strong a selling point as more visible design innovations.
Nevertheless, fundamental factors remain most important to users when deciding to buy a new smartphone: price tops the list at 55 percent, followed by battery lifespan at 52 percent.
