Apple Plans to Reintroduce Titanium Material, Likely Exclusive to iPhone Pro as Before

Industry sources in the smartphone sector say Apple is quietly developing a new titanium material aimed at solving heat dissipation and device weight problems, intending to bring it back for use in the iPhone Pro again.

A user on the Weibo platform named Instant Digital disclosed that Apple is considering reintroducing titanium material for future iPhone Pro models after pausing its use in the iPhone 17 Pro, which switched back to aluminum due to heat dissipation issues.

Information from sources indicates that aluminum use on the iPhone 17 Pro is only a temporary solution, as Apple remains determined to make premium titanium the main material for the device's construction.

The data specifies that Apple is currently researching and developing an improved version of titanium, primarily aiming to resolve the metal alloy's poor heat conduction while simultaneously reducing the device's weight without changing its volume.

However, Apple is also exploring other options such as liquid metal materials that could be used in the hinge mechanism of the iPhone Ultra, though significant production challenges remain for mass manufacturing.

Currently, Apple continues to use titanium in certain models like the iPhone Air and is likely to adopt it for the iPhone Ultra as well, since titanium's strength and durability better suit the device's ultra-thin structural design compared to other materials.

Analysts believe that if Apple can significantly improve the efficiency of the Vapor Chamber cooling system to address heat issues, there is a high possibility that the new titanium formula will be reintroduced in the next iPhone Pro model.
