The first batch of Android smartphones that can use the Quick Share feature to connect with Apple's AirDrop protocol has been revealed, making it easier to transfer files from Android to iPhone and Mac from now on.
Google and Apple have succeeded in enabling file sharing from Android operating systems to iOS and macOS, so going forward, the Quick Share feature on Android will allow easier file sharing to Apple’s AirDrop.
Regarding the file sharing process, both the sender and receiver must set their device's file receiving mode to Everyone because the current system cannot yet share contacts across platforms.
Then, the list of Apple devices nearby will immediately appear on the Android screen, ready to receive files such as photos, videos, documents, or other data.
For Google’s Pixel smartphones, the AirDrop feature is enabled by default at all times, while Samsung provides a separate toggle button for this function to let users control their privacy settings themselves.
However, this feature remains limited to certain smartphone models as activation depends on the manufacturers.
Currently, the models supporting AirDrop include smartphones from Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, vivo, and Honor, as listed below.
Provided the device is updated to One UI 8.5
