At WWDC 2026, Apple officially announced the launch of iOS 27. This major update focuses on enhancing performance and refining the system for greater overall polish.
Apple stated that iOS 27 can open applications up to 30 percent faster and increase data or file transfers via AirDrop by 80 percent compared to before.
At the same time, all iPhone models currently running iOS 26 will receive the iOS 27 update, including models initially expected by many not to be supported further, such as the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and even the iPhone SE 2nd Gen.
Regarding design and interface, iOS 27 upgrades the Liquid Glass design by adding a slider to adjust transparency levels, allowing users to customize their screens more precisely to their preferences.
Additionally, icons have been enhanced to be sharper and more dimensional by incorporating additional layers simulating light refraction.
The search system has also been completely overhauled with the creation of a new search index aimed at improving the efficiency of Spotlight and searches throughout the operating system.
The Mail app now includes a new ranking system to help users locate what they need with greater accuracy.
