Microsoft Hosts AI Tour Bangkok Highlighting Thailands Rapid AI Growth as Second Fastest Globally

Microsoft reveals insights that the proportion of AI users among Thai workers has increased to 12.4 percent, driving a year-over-year growth rate to 36.4 percent.

Microsoft Thailand held the global technology seminar Microsoft AI Tour Bangkok on 9 June 2026. A key highlight at the event was the announcement that Thailand's year-over-year AI usage growth rate reached 36.4 percent, making it the second fastest globally, trailing only South Korea.

Thanawat Sutamphan, Managing Director for Thailand and Emerging Markets at Microsoft, disclosed that according to the Global AI Diffusion report, the proportion of serious AI users among Thailand's working-age population rose from 9.1 percent in the first half of 2025 to 12.4 percent in the first quarter of 2026. This aligns with the Work Trend Index 2026 survey, which found about 32 percent of Thai workers are classified as Frontier Professionals, or advanced AI users—double the global average of 16 percent.

In terms of leadership, 51 percent of Thai workers believe their organizational leaders have a clear vision for AI, which is significantly higher than the global average of 26 percent.

However, with only 12.4 percent AI usage, over 87.6 percent of Thai workers in industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, and education have yet to access this technology. Microsoft views this gap as both a challenge and an important opportunity for all sectors to collaborate in promoting widespread AI adoption to help Thai workers become more efficient and creative.

Ralph Hopper, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of Microsoft's SME and Channel Group, stated that leading organizations succeed by focusing on four key areas: enhancing employee experience, delivering superior customer experiences, transforming business processes broadly, and accelerating innovation.

Ralph Hopper added that in today's era, everyone can be a creator. Within Microsoft itself, over 1,000 AI Agents have been developed in just six months to support employees across all departments, from finance and operations to sales.

Microsoft also introduced its intelligent infrastructure under the IQ Platform concept, comprising Work IQ, which acts as the organization's brain to manage and understand daily activities; Fabric IQ, which enables secure access and management of data regardless of where it is stored; and Foundry IQ, a knowledge engine integrating internal and external data to create intelligent power. Additionally, Agent Factory serves as a platform for organizations to develop their own AI systems with the highest standards of security and reliability.

The Microsoft AI Tour Bangkok seminar is part of a long-term plan following Microsoft's announcement in March of an investment exceeding 1 billion U.S. dollars from 2026 to 2028. This aims to accelerate cloud and AI infrastructure development in Thailand to establish a digital foundation that drives the country's economy through innovation.
