The latest leak about the iPhone 18 Pro indicates it will add an adjustable aperture camera for the first time, raising the camera's capability to professional standards.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg News revealed in the Power On newsletter that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, launching in the next few months, is likely to feature a major hardware upgrade to its camera for the first time in several years.
The main expected upgrades include three key points: the main camera with a variable aperture, a telephoto lens with a wider aperture, and camera software focused on professional-level usage.
The most notable highlight is the variable aperture system, a feature long discussed but unclear how Apple will implement it practically. It is expected to allow users greater freedom to control focus distance and depth of field. Additionally, it may enhance portrait mode photography, low-light shooting, and better adapt to diverse photography styles.
For the telephoto lens, expanding the aperture size will address previous limitations of this lens type by improving light intake, resulting in sharper zoom photos with better detail retention in low-light settings.
Beyond these three hardware and software upgrades, there are additional reports that the Camera Control button will also receive new functional improvements this year.
