Huawei launches the Pura 90s Pro. and Huawei Pura 90s Pro Max. Both come with the Kirin 9030S chip and support 5G and eSIM for the first time on models sold outside China.
Huawei has introduced its new flagship smartphones, the Huawei Pura 90s Pro and Pura 90s Pro Max, for the international market. The main highlight is the 200-megapixel telephoto camera featuring an RYYB sensor, along with support for 5G networks and eSIM for the first time on Huawei models sold outside China.
The Pura 90s Pro Max’s camera is a 200MP telephoto with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture, and fixed 4x optical zoom without complex lens switching like the Pura 80 Ultra. Huawei has added real-time RAW image processing, enabling video zoom up to 20x, with CIPA 7.0 (7-stop) stabilization and macro capabilities.
The main camera uses a 50MP RYYB sensor also sized at 1/1.28 inches, incorporating LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology to expand dynamic range, replacing the 1-inch sensor from last year’s Pura 80 Pro and Ultra. The lens features OIS and an adjustable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0 over 10 levels, complemented by a special 40MP ultra-wide camera (RYYB sensor, f/2.2 lens).
The standard Huawei Pura 90s Pro also has a 4x telephoto zoom but uses a 50MP sensor with f/2.1 aperture, OIS, and macro shooting from as close as 5 cm. Its main camera is the same 1/1.28-inch 50MP RYYB sensor as the Pro Max but without LOFIC technology. The ultra-wide camera is downgraded to 12.5MP (RYYB sensor, f/2.2 lens).
The Pura 90s Pro features a 6.6-inch LTPO panel with 1-120Hz refresh rate and 1256 x 2760 resolution, protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass. The Pura 90s Pro Max has a larger 6.9-inch LTPO display at 1-120Hz and 1308 x 2880 resolution, using the original Kunlun Glass. Both screens have special optical layers reducing reflections by up to 70%, along with diamond-like carbon coatings and silicon nitride ceramic materials, which Huawei says increase scratch resistance 16-fold and drop resistance 25-fold.
Both models are powered by the new Kirin 9030S chipset from HiSilicon, Huawei’s semiconductor subsidiary, building on the Kirin 9020 used in the Pura 80 series. Technical details remain mostly undisclosed.
A key update is the addition of 5G support, which previous Huawei models sold internationally lacked, as well as eSIM support for the first time. Wireless connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi 7 (be), Bluetooth 6.0 (supporting LDAC and L2HC), and Huawei’s proprietary NearLink E2.0 short-range wireless standard as an alternative to Bluetooth.
Both come with 12GB RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB, running EMUI 16.
Both models feature a 6,000mAh battery for China and most global markets, though the European Union version has reduced capacity to comply with regulations. The Pura 90s Pro Max supports faster charging at 100W wired and 80W wireless, while the Pura 90s Pro supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Huawei Pura 90s Pro Max is available in four colors: Orange Ocean, Blush Gold, Blaze Purple, and Graphite Black.
The Pura 90s Pro comes in Guava Soda green, Coconut White, Orange Soda, and Mulberry Black.
