Samsung has released the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and a 5,000mAh battery. Preorders start today until 13 August 2026, with prices beginning at 69,900 baht.
At the Galaxy Unpacked July 2026 event, TM Roh, CEO and Head of Device eXperience at Samsung Electronics, took the stage to say that as AI evolves into an intelligent assistant, mobile devices become the closest touchpoint with users. He emphasized that today’s new standards for foldable smartphones are about elevating the premium experience to the next level.
Following his remarks, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the highest-end foldable smartphone in the Galaxy Z Series.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is Samsung’s first foldable smartphone to carry the Ultra branding, previously reserved for the Galaxy S flagship line. It measures 8.9mm thick when folded and just 4.1mm when unfolded, weighing 215 grams, making it the thinnest foldable in the Galaxy lineup.
Its main display is an 8.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with QXGA+ resolution (2,504 x 2,256 pixels) at 422ppi, supporting an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz and equipped with Vision Booster. The cover screen is a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ resolution (1,080 x 2,520 pixels) at 422ppi, also supporting 1 to 120Hz refresh rate.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra’s rear camera system includes three lenses: a 200-megapixel wide-angle camera with an f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), and 2x optical zoom; a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/1.9 aperture and 120-degree field of view supporting macro photography; and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom. The front-facing cameras on both the cover and main screens have 10-megapixel sensors. It supports 8K video recording via a new APV encoder, Cine LUT for cinematic color grading, and Nightography for enhanced low-light photography.
Samsung’s device runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, paired with three memory and storage options: 12/256GB, 12/512GB, and 16/1TB. It houses a dual-battery system totaling 5,000mAh capacity, supports wired charging up to 67% in 30 minutes with a separately sold 45W adapter, and offers 20W fast wireless charging. The phone features a new dual-path charging architecture and an expanded graphite cooling system.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra supports IP48 water and dust resistance, runs Android 17 with One UI 9, and includes connectivity options like 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth v6.0.
On the software side, Samsung highlights Galaxy AI working alongside Google’s Gemini Intelligence. New features include Now Brief, which summarizes personalized information, and Now Nudge, which suggests next steps from conversations for immediate user action. Initially, Gemini-powered automation features will be available only in the US and South Korea, supporting US English and Korean languages, with plans to expand to more languages and regions within the year.
Regarding security, Samsung states that data protection starts at the chipset level with Samsung Knox. It includes a Personal Data Engine (PDE) for on-device AI safeguarded by Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) and Knox Vault. Additionally, the AI Assistant Activity dashboard in One UI 9.0 consolidates all AI automation activities in one place.

The device is available in three colors: Violet Shadow, Graphite Black, and Cream White. A special Green Shadow color is exclusively sold online at samsung.com. Preorders are open from today until 13 August 2026, with official sales starting on 14 August.
