The Galaxy Z Fold8 is a foldable smartphone with a new wider screen size: a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch unfolded main screen. The device uses a Flex Titanium frame and offers a brightness of 3,000 nits.
Samsung launched the all-new Galaxy Z Fold8, a foldable smartphone featuring a new design with a wider device ratio. Its highlight is the main 4:3 aspect ratio screen when unfolded, weighing 201 grams, which Samsung claims is the lightest in the Galaxy Z Fold lineup.
A key difference between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra lies in the device shape. When folded, the cover display has a 10:16 aspect ratio, giving a feel similar to a regular smartphone. When unfolded, the main screen has a 4:3 aspect ratio, resembling a small tablet more than the previous tall foldable screens. This suits video watching, reading, and gaming, and the screen ratio adjusts with device rotation for more natural reading.
The main screen is a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X with QXGA+ resolution (1,848 x 2,448 pixels), 403 ppi, and an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. The cover screen is 5.5 inches with WUXGA+ resolution (1,248 x 1,972 pixels), 428 ppi, also with a 1-120 Hz refresh rate. The main screen reaches up to 3,000 nits brightness, combined with Vision Booster and a low-reflection display coating to reduce glare.
Samsung also integrates Flex Titanium screen structure technology, combining a titanium alloy film with a redesigned titanium sheet. This makes the device thinner while supporting pressure and impact resistance, reducing visible screen creases over time, and balancing the hinge mechanism, screen tension, and magnetic pull when unfolded.
The device measures 81.9 x 123.9 x 9.7 mm when folded, and 161.4 x 123.9 x 4.5 mm when unfolded. It weighs 201 grams and offers IP48 water and dust resistance.
The rear cameras are dual 50-megapixel sensors: a wide-angle camera with an f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization, and 2x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide 50-megapixel camera with an f/1.9 aperture and 120-degree field of view. Both the cover and main front cameras have 10-megapixel resolution. Features include Dual Recording, capturing video simultaneously from front and rear cameras, and My FanCam, which automatically detects and tracks a selected person's face, adjusting video framing as desired. My FanCam requires a Samsung account login.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. Memory and storage options include 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM with 1TB storage.
It has a dual battery with a combined capacity of 4,800mAh. Wired charging can reach up to 63% in 30 minutes using a 45W adapter sold separately, and supports 20W fast wireless charging. The device runs Android 17 with One UI 9, supporting 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth v6.0.
Regarding AI features, the Galaxy Z Fold8 uses the same capabilities across the lineup, including Galaxy AI, collaboration with Google's Gemini Intelligence, features like Now Brief, Now Nudge, and Gemini Notebook that consolidate notes, images, audio recordings, and documents in one workspace. The large screen supports split-view multitasking for chatting while viewing other content.
