Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO, stated during the earnings call that Gemini's daily active users have tripled over the past year, while the flagship 3.5 Pro model's launch has been postponed again.
Google revealed that the AI application Gemini now has monthly active users reaching 950 million, bringing Google closer to having another product surpass 1 billion users.
Sundar Pichai explained that besides the monthly active users, the daily active users have also grown threefold over the past year.
Gemini's user figures put Google's AI product close behind OpenAI's ChatGPT, which currently has around 1 billion monthly users, according to the latest data from Sensor Tower.
Looking back at Google Gemini's growth trajectory, in October last year, it had about 650 million monthly users. By February, during the Q4 2025 earnings report, Google stated this number had risen to over 750 million.
Regarding products, Google has continuously released AI models that are faster and lower cost. This week, it launched three new models, including Gemini 3.6 Flash, which Google says performs better than previous versions in tasks like coding, using fewer tokens and thus offering better cost efficiency.
However, the new flagship model Gemini 3.5 Pro faces further delays. Meanwhile, interest is growing around the upcoming Gemini 4 model, which is now in early development.
