Demand for the more affordable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 standard model seems stronger than for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, causing shortages in some colors and storage capacities in certain markets.
A report from Lanzuk revealed information about pre-order figures forthe Galaxy Z Fold8andthe Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.Data from the Naver platform shows that Galaxy Z Fold8 pre-orders have exceeded Samsung's expectations, with allocation of units becoming problematic and the risk of stock shortages soon in some regions such as the key South Korean market.
Meanwhile, information from Ice Universe shared on X indicates that Galaxy Z Fold8 pre-orders have significantly outpaced those of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra in South Korea and other markets.
Previous reports noted Samsung allocated production of around 2.8 million units for the Galaxy Z Fold8, compared to about 2 million units for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.This means the standard model's production target is roughly 40 percent higher than the Ultra, reflecting Samsung's initial assessment that the standard version would sell better, though production still can't keep up with pre-order demand.
Recently, the Galaxy Z Fold8's special online-exclusive Pistachio Green color reopened for pre-orders after temporary ordering issues on Samsung’s website. Payment errors have been resolved, but delivery for the 256GB and 512GB models has been postponed to October 2026, while the 1TB model remains unaffected.
Carriers have also reported stock issues, with sources indicating some colors may run out by the second or third week of August, near the pre-order closing date, meaning certain colors might sell out before the pre-order period ends.
Conversely, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra shows no signs of stock problems, with reports stating that its supply is sufficient.
