Google announced that Gemini is an application with 1 billion monthly active users, making it the 14th Google product to reach this milestone.
Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO, revealed that Gemini has become the fastest-growing product in Google's history and is the 14th product to reach 1 billion monthly users, following Google Search, Gmail, Android, Maps, Chrome, Google Play, and YouTube.
Gemini’s growth has been dramatic; back in May 2025, Google reported about 400 million users, before surpassing 1 billion users in the August announcement.
Google also disclosed that about 63 percent of users interact with Gemini via voice instead of typing, while Gemini Live users show that one in five not only use voice but also enable real-time camera and screen sharing for assistance.
Regarding image creation, over 150 million images are generated daily through Gemini. On operating systems, the app has over 100 million iOS users, and power users on macOS input commands at twice the rate compared to other platforms.
With 1 billion monthly active users, Google Gemini is now catching up with OpenAI's ChatGPT, which reached the same milestone in June 2026.
The figures Google announced count only usage through the Gemini app and do not include other channels such as Google AI Mode within Google Search.
