Rumors about the Galaxy S27 Ultra, to be released next year, suggest the device size will be similar to the previous model, but its rear design is reminiscent of the iPhone 17 Pro.
Ice Universe, a well-known smartphone insider on platform X, revealed that Samsung's next flagship, the Galaxy S27 Ultra launching next year, will have a size not much different from the current Galaxy S26 Ultra, with the most notable difference being the rear design, which resembles the iPhone 17 Pro.
According to Ice Universe's render images, the rear will feature a camera module protruding from the back, with two lenses in separate compartments and a third lens housed in a capsule-shaped slot alongside the flash. This capsule-shaped slot may contain a 5x telephoto lens, differing from the Galaxy S26 Ultra where lenses are arranged separately in a vertical line.
Beyond the rear design, Ice Universe noted that the S Pen slot will remain at the bottom left corner of the device, as will the speaker, continuing the layout Samsung has used for Ultra models since the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra era.
Meanwhile, other models in the series, including the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, and Galaxy S27 Pro, are reported to move the speaker slot from the left to the right side of the bottom edge, distinguishing them from the Ultra model.
Regarding camera specs, multiple sources have reported that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will reduce its rear cameras from four to three by removing the 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens. The remaining cameras would be a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 50-megapixel 5x telephoto lens. If confirmed, this would be the first Ultra model since the Galaxy S21 Ultra in 2021 without four rear cameras. South Korea's ET News cited supply chain sources attributing this change to cost reduction. The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to feature a 200-megapixel main camera, 50-megapixel ultrawide, and 12-megapixel 3x telephoto lens.
The Privacy Display feature, first introduced in the Galaxy S26 Ultra and employing Samsung Display's Flex Magic Pixel technology to restrict side viewing of screen content, is reported by South Korea’s TheElec in July to be included across all four Galaxy S27 models, not just the Ultra and Pro versions as previously reported.
.Galaxy S27 Seriesis expected to launch in early 2027, around the same time as the Galaxy S26 Series launch.
