After the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra, Apple is expected to discontinue up to 11 products on the App Store.
Ahead of the Apple Event Surprise and Shine at midnight on 10 September Thailand time, it is notable that Apple may remove some products from sale on its website following the product launches.
As is customary, Apple usually discontinues older models in the same category when new products are introduced. The most likely candidates for discontinuation are:
Among these 11 products, some may continue to be sold, but it is certain that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be discontinued to make way for the newer models, despite both having strong sales.
Models that could still change include the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, as well as products in the Home category. Typically, Apple launches a new standard iPhone model, lowers the price of the previous generation slightly, and then eventually discontinues the older model. However, reports from multiple sources indicate that the standard iPhone 18 and the second-generation iPhone Air have been postponed to early 2027 as part of a strategy to split iPhone launches into two annual events. This leaves it unclear whether Apple will continue selling the iPhone 16 until then.
Another interesting factor is that Apple has raised product prices this cycle, which may lead the company to keep older models on sale longer at reduced prices, alongside new models priced higher.
