The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have arrived, building on the previous model's design and available in four colors, with Burgundy red as the main color.
Apple officially introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at the "Surprise and Shine" Apple Event, with an exterior design very similar to last year's iPhone 17 Pro.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are powered by Apple's A20 Pro chipset, featuring a dual Neural Engine to speed up artificial intelligence tasks.
Meanwhile, the vapor chamber cooling system has been redesigned to better manage heat and reduce overheating issues.
In terms of design, Apple has adjusted the aluminum back surface and Ceramic Shield glass to have more harmonious tones compared to the previous model.
The camera is the most notable change, as it now includes a variable aperture lens for the first time. Since the iPhone 14 Pro through to the iPhone 17 Pro, the main camera had used a fixed ƒ/1.78 aperture.
This technology allows iPhone users to mechanically control the amount of light hitting the sensor. Opening the aperture wider helps capture cleaner images in low light, while narrowing it reduces overexposure in bright sunlight and offers a wider depth of field for landscape shots. Apple has added professional-level controls in the camera app, letting users select aperture values manually from auto mode up to locking a specific setting like ƒ/4.0.
Additionally, there is a Fusion telephoto lens offering 4x and 8x zoom, Photographic Styles for enhanced image texture control, Apple Reference Image for color accuracy, and the ability to create cinematic videos from standard footage.
On the software side, the iPhone 18 Pro's camera supports image correction based on the chosen aperture setting, plus new professional tools including Manual Focus for adjusting focus manually, Exposure Scopes for checking light levels, and Repeated Self-Timer Shots for capturing multiple timed photos in succession.
Apple has also redesigned the Dynamic Island to be smaller and more functional, now supporting multitasking with up to three active tasks instead of two.
Apple Intelligence has been improved with a new Siri version that appears as a standalone app on the home screen, supporting both voice and text commands, and can operate across apps including third-party applications.
Regarding specifications, the iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch screen. Both models use the new vapor chamber cooling system, which Apple claims better manages heat.
For battery life, Apple claims these are the longest-lasting batteries ever in an iPhone.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are available in four colors: Black, Silver, Glacier Blue, and Burgundy Red.
