Rumors Suggest Samsung May Accelerate Launch of Galaxy Z TriFold 2 Following Apples iPhone Duo Reveal

Samsung is considering launching its tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, earlier than scheduled to counter Apple's iPhone Duo in 2027.

Lanzuk, a blogger who shares updates on the smartphone industry, reported that Samsung is contemplating an earlier release of the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 and may also move up the launch of its slideable phone—a new form factor expected to debut in 2027—ahead of the original timetable. This move aims to compete with the iPhone Duo, Apple's first folding screen smartphone.

The same report states that the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 will be thinner, lighter, and more durable than the first model, with Samsung targeting a retail price closer to the initial trial version, which was priced at $2,899 USD.

Looking back at the first Galaxy Z TriFold's brief market presence,

Galaxy TriFold รุ่นที่สองอาจมาเร็วกว่าที่คิด

The Galaxy Z TriFold was Samsung's first smartphone with two hinges and a three-part inner screen, which, when unfolded, measured about 10 inches. It launched in January 2026 in major markets like the United States as a pilot test and was discontinued in March when existing inventory ran out.

However, the main reasons behind Samsung's swift discontinuation of the Galaxy Z TriFold just months after release are believed to be high costs and manufacturing complexity. Additionally, rising costs in the smartphone market due to a shortage of RAM were significant factors in Samsung's decision.
