Samsung is considering an earlier-than-planned launch of its tri-fold phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, to respond to Apple's iPhone Duo in 2027.
Lanzuk, a blogger known for sharing smartphone industry updates, stated that Samsung is contemplating an accelerated launch of the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 and may also bring forward the debut of a slideable phone, a new smartphone format rumored to launch in 2027.This move is intended to compete with Apple's iPhone Duo, the company's first folding screen smartphone.
The same report indicates that the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 will be slimmer, lighter, and more durable than the first model, with Samsung aiming to price it closer to the initial model’s $2,899 launch price, which was a trial release.
The Galaxy Z TriFold was Samsung’s first smartphone with two hinges and a three-part inner screen that opens to about 10 inches. It launched in January 2026 in the major U.S. market as a pilot test, then ceased sales in March once inventory was depleted.
