The technology news site Android Police analyzes that the Burgundy red color of the iPhone 18 Pro may become a trend among Android phones next year, especially within Chinese smartphone brands.
At the recent Apple Event, Apple launched the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Duo. Although the overall upgrade from the iPhone 17 Pro to the iPhone 18 Pro is not dramatic, the Burgundy red color, which Apple highlighted as a main color, is noteworthy. This is because new iPhone launches often inspire Android smartphone makers to adopt Apple's concepts.
Even though the iPhone 18 Pro has few updates, including slight improvements in camera quality, performance, and battery life, Apple chose to focus its main innovations on the iPhone Duo model.
Android Police notes that although the iPhone 18 Pro changes are minor, the device's color alone is enough to influence competitors. This was seen last year with the iPhone 17 Pro's Cosmic Orange, after which several Android smartphone makers released phones in similar orange hues, such as the Honor 600 and Honor 600 Pro, Oppo Find X9 Ultra in Canyon Orange, and the Pixel 11 Pro in Canyon.
For 2027, Android Police predicts many smartphones will feature shades close to Burgundy red, especially from Chinese smartphone manufacturers. However, Samsung may not follow this trend, as it is a large company that typically does not imitate competitors like Apple and usually opts for more understated colors.
Android Police also observes that in 2027, Apple's influence may be less than in 2026 because Burgundy red is a more specific shade than orange, leading smartphone brands to possibly use alternative red tones instead.
Furthermore, the Cosmic Orange of the iPhone 17 Pro was highly popular because Apple chose a luxurious, bright shade, contrasting with the more subdued Burgundy red. Ultimately, the new iPhone 18 Pro color may not be as popular as the iPhone 17 Pro's color. If it is unpopular, Android brands might not follow the trend. Moreover, as the iPhone Duo draws consumer attention away from the iPhone 18 Pro, the red smartphone trend might not even emerge.
