A key factor is price: the Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at 2.28 million won in South Korea, while the iPhone Duo with comparable specs is reported to be priced around 3.29 million won, making the price difference more than 1 million won.
Beyond price, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is thinner and lighter than the iPhone Duo, both having similarly wide screens. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is already on sale, whereas the iPhone Duo will launch in South Korea in October 2026. This has led some customers to decide whether to wait or not, and which brand to choose.
The iPhone Duo represents Apple's first entry into the foldable smartphone market, designed similarly to a passport. Technology experts estimate that Apple's entry could accelerate foldable phones becoming mainstream devices.
