Apple is likely to raise iPhone prices again next year after reports revealed that Apple agreed to pay higher prices for Samsung's DRAM and NAND memory chips.
A report from the smartphone supply chain industry disclosed that Apple agreed to pay nearly $2 per gigabit for LPDDR5X memory.
At the same time, Apple also accepted paying $0.33 per gigabit for NAND flash memory.
Previously, in the third quarter of this year, Samsung's memory prices were $1.50 and $0.26 per gigabit, respectively.This means thatApple's production costs have increased by approximately 33 percent and 27 percent.
A few days ago, South Korean media reported that Samsung was negotiating new DRAM and NAND prices with several smartphone manufacturers, including Apple, and it appears both companies have now reached an agreement.
With Apple's rising costs, there is speculation that the next price increase might occur next year.In recent times, Apple has already raised prices for products such as the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17e.
Apple is not the only manufacturer Samsung has asked to adjust memory chip prices; earlier reports stated that Oppo and vivo rejected Samsung's proposed prices, though it remains unclear which suppliers they have turned to.
