The OriginOS 7 interface will begin rolling out to flagship vivo X300 Series smartphones by late October, including a new feature to assist with securing concert tickets.
vivo revealed details about OriginOS 7, a new interface built on Android 17, to the Thai media ahead of its update for vivo smartphone users in Thailand. The update focuses on four key areas: smoothness, design and customization, connectivity with Apple devices, and AI features.
During a Q&A session, vivo confirmed that the vivo X300 Series will receive the OriginOS 7 update by late October.
vivo stated that OriginOS 7 will come pre-installed on the vivo V80 and vivo X500 Series out of the box, though some features will be limited to specific models, countries, or languages.
A highlight of OriginOS 7 is cross-ecosystem connectivity. vivo designed it for users with devices from different brands, such as supporting AirPods by showing connection status and battery level on Origin Island, enabling Spatial Audio adjustments, and allowing direct access and downloads of iCloud files through vivo’s File Manager app via web-based iCloud login.
Additionally, vivo introduced Snap-Up Engine for users competing to buy concert tickets. Building on vivo X Series’ zoom camera strengths for concerts, this feature accelerates processing speed and internet connection when entering ticketing apps. It currently supports over ten apps in Thailand and internationally.
Regarding performance, vivo explained that Origin Smooth Engine enhances smoothness through three technologies. The first, Ultra-Core Computing, prioritizes important tasks to reduce app cold start times by 10% and speeds up in-app screen transitions by 11% compared to OriginOS 6.
The second technology, Memory Fusion, manages RAM and ROM amid rising memory costs affecting smartphone and computer prices industry-wide. It doubles vivo’s virtual RAM expansion—for example, 8GB RAM can expand to 16GB virtual RAM, and 12GB RAM can reach 24GB—while speeding up memory retrieval. Storage optimization compresses data to free up to 25GB on 256GB devices.
The third, Dual Rendering, restructures the rendering process, improving rendering efficiency by 14.4%, resulting in smoother animations for both general use and gaming.
On the AI front, vivo enhanced the Jovi assistant to function on smartphones and connected computers via vivo Office Kit. Users can issue commands with attached information for Jovi to answer questions, manage documents, or create presentations, similar to typical AI agents.
The AI Recorder was upgraded for more accurate transcription, identifying individual speakers, analyzing conversation topics, summarizing key points, translating languages, and offering summary templates.
Another new AI feature is Snap Note, which converts photos of whiteboards, handwritten notes, or presentation slides into immediately editable notes without retyping. When capturing multiple pages in sequence, the system automatically arranges content in order for summarizing or list-making. vivo noted this feature is limited to certain models, countries, or languages.
For multitasking, vivo brought Origin Workbench—previously exclusive to the vivo X Fold5 foldable phone—to the vivo X500 Series. It allows up to five apps to run simultaneously on standard-screen smartphones. Users can switch between apps like note-taking and gaming seamlessly, with AI Cross-App Drag enabling data drag-and-drop across apps for AI processing. Origin Workbench requires models with at least 12GB of RAM.
In design, vivo added Dynamic Glow, a real-time light effect that moves with user interaction, and Dynamic Translucent Material, a semi-transparent surface revealing background layers, both optional to enable or disable.
The number of lock screen and home screen themes doubled from OriginOS 6. Highlighted themes include Wiggle Theme, which animates selected images with a bouncing effect; Glint Theme, showing sparkling effects when tilting the device; and StickIt, which turns emojis into stickers on lock and home screens. The Always on Display now supports more notification types and sticker placement, including near the fingerprint scanner area.
Another notable theme is Pet Pals Theme, featuring six selectable pets—three dogs and three cats—that appear on lock and home screens. Pets change posture based on device status, such as appearing refreshed with a full battery in the morning and sleepy when the battery is low. Users can play by tossing a ball, triggering 18 different pet behaviors.
Interestingly, vivo announced plans for November to allow users to upload photos of their own pets into the app, where AI will create personalized on-screen pets.
