History and significance of the "Red Cross Fair"

The Red Cross Fair was first held on 31 March 1922 at Sanam Luang, aiming to promote the Siam Red Cross Society’s activities and invite the public to join as members. Later, in 1928, King Prajadhipok graciously ordered the venue to be moved to Sarana Rom Park and renamed it the "Red Cross Day Fair".

Due to growing public interest, the fair became an annual event with added attractions like performances, the Kalapapruek fruit-picking game, and the sale of the Red Cross lottery tickets, known as "Chalakhakarn".

Each year features a motto or theme that evolves with the times. The 2025 Red Cross Fair at Lumphini Park is held under the concept " Uniting People's Hearts in Grateful Remembrance of the Compassion of the President of the Thai Red Cross Society. "
