The Mexican sunflowers atop Doi Pae Luang in Mai Ya Subdistrict, Phaya Mengrai District, Chiang Rai Province, are blooming in a brilliant yellow blanket, attracting a steady flow of tourists. A key highlight here is the extremely convenient travel, as it is located just over30 kilometers from Chiang Rai city center.For those wanting to see fields of Mexican sunflowers without traveling far, Doi Pae Luang is an excellent choice.

This viewpoint is located in Ban Huai Kang Talat, Village No. 12, between kilometer markers 7 and 8 on Rural Highway No. 4017, easily accessible by all types of vehicles.

The Mexican sunflowers started blooming in mid-November and are expected to reach full bloom by the end of November, with flowers still visible until mid-January of the following year.

Additionally, on 23 November, Mai Ya Subdistrict Municipality, in collaboration with Phaya Mengrai District and Chiang Rai Provincial Administrative Organization, organized an annual tourism promotion event titled "Chasing the Wind, Watching Peacocks at the Mexican Sunflower Fields 2025," which attracted many participants.

Lao Jaikumut, assistant village headman of Ban Srichum, said that besides the beautiful Mexican sunflower fields, tourists also have the chance to see wild peacocks that often come to feed near Huai Kang Reservoir, about 5-6 kilometers from Doi Pae Luang, especially during quiet daytime hours.

"Doi Pae Luang has beautiful Mexican sunflowers blooming every year. We invite tourists to come and visit. It is close to Chiang Rai city, easy to reach, and has a wonderful atmosphere," the assistant village headman encouraged visitors.

The Mexican sunflower fields at Doi Pae Luang, Mai Ya Subdistrict, Phaya Mengrai District, Chiang Rai Province, are now open for tourism through the end of November 2025. The site is reachable by all types of vehicles and is only 30-35 km from Chiang Rai city center.
