After much speculation among fans, Fuji-Q Highland amusement park in Japan has officially confirmed that "Butterbear," the beloved Thai idol bear, is set to go international by appearing at this world-class theme park.
This event will transform parts of the park into a bright and charming land called "Butterbear in Fuji-Q Highland," marking a significant milestone for a Thai character appearing at a major Japanese landmark.
The collaboration will run for a full six months, from Saturday, 10 January 2026 until Friday, 10 July 2026. The park will not only decorate with Butterbear images but also renovate rides and create new activity zones dedicated to welcoming Butterbear.
The highlight begins with the makeover of the classic Tea Cup ride into the "Par-tea Cup," themed as a lively party. This ride has been renovated to include a giant LED screen at its center displaying Butterbear's adorable images, combined with full lighting and sound effects to immerse riders in a dance party with Butterbear herself.
Besides the rides, the park has set up a popular photo spot featuring a giant Butterbear model with the real Mount Fuji as the backdrop. This blend of Japan's iconic symbol and Thailand's mascot is expected to become a must-visit spot for tourists to capture memorable photos.
For visitors during winter, there is a special "Butterbear SNOW PARK"—a snow area filled with Butterbear-themed decorations and snow bear figures welcoming guests. This zone offers snow tube rentals for sliding down snowy slopes, ideal for families. However, this snow zone will operate only until 31 March 2026, shorter than other event areas.
Regarding food and souvenirs, Fuji-Q Highland will offer limited edition items exclusive to the event, such as Fujiyama Cookies with special packaging and Zekkyo Yaki snacks printed with Butterbear’s face, along with other collectibles designed especially for fans.
This collaboration reflects Butterbear’s growing popularity beyond Thailand. Travelers planning visits to Tokyo or the Mount Fuji area in the first half of 2026 can stop by Fuji-Q Highland in Yamanashi Prefecture to enjoy Butterbear’s charm. The park is accessible by bus from Shinjuku, and entry tickets allow immediate participation in the activities.
This partnership is a major step for a Thai character to stand at a landmark in Japan. Anyone planning a Tokyo-Fuji trip in early 2026 should not miss the chance to support Butterbear.
