"Phra That Renu" The sacred stupa associated with those born on Monday Phra That Renu originally was the site of Renu Nakhon home to the Thai ethnic people, who have preserved their local customs and traditions well. It is believed that those who come to pay respects will receive blessings that grant a radiant, clear complexion like moonlight. Inside the ordination hall is enshrined Phra Ong Saen, a golden Buddha statue in meditation posture, crafted in Lao style with beautiful Buddhist features. It is considered the guardian Buddha image of Renu Nakhon district, Nakhon Phanom province.
Phra That Renu was built around 1917–1920 CE, modeled after the full-sized Phra That Phanom. The Fine Arts Department restored it in 1950 CE, although it is smaller in size. Inside are enshrined the Tripitaka scriptures, golden Buddha statues, silver Buddha statues, royal regalia of local rulers, and valuable items donated by devotees. In 2016 CE, the relics of the Buddha were also enshrined here. Inside the ordination hall is Phra Ong Saen, the guardian Buddha of Renu Nakhon, a beautifully crafted Lao-style seated Buddha. The temple grounds include a cultural plaza for the Thai people of Renu Nakhon, the Muang Wei Theater, welcoming visitors and tourists. There are also OTOP product shops and local fabrics that visitors should not miss.
Phra That Renu is not only the sacred stupa of Renu Nakhon city but also the birth stupa for those born on Monday, believed to align withcharacteristicsthat are gracefulwith soft, soothing colorsand elegance, reflecting the artistic styleof Lan Xangcomparable to Achanai, the moon's mythical mount. Furthermore, the stupa itself faces east, which isthe direction associatedwith those born on Monday. Renu Nakhon is renowned for its culture, handicrafts, traditional clothing, anddancesand various village activities that are notably beautiful and radiant, attracting admiration like the moon in the sky that everyone desires.
