As April 2026 arrives, Bangkok is preparing a major commemorative event "Under the Royal Grace: 244 Years of Rattanakosin"to honor the benevolence of the Thai monarchs and to continue the preservation of invaluable cultural heritage. This year, the landmark National Museum Bangkok has organized special activities including music performances, cultural arts, and rare traditional entertainments over five full days.

Events will run from early evening to late night (17:30 - 22:00), perfect for exploring the beauty of Rattanakosin Island by night. The schedule includes the following highlights.

  • 22 April: The first day opens with Phleng Choi music by the Suchin Sriprajan troupe and the TYO band.
  • 23 April: The grand opening ceremony featuring performances by the Fine Arts Department and a concert by renowned folk singer Tao Phusilp.
  • 24 April: Enjoy traditional Thai cultural performances from across the country and the lively Pong Lang band from Roi Et College of Dramatic Arts.
  • 25 April: Experience choral singing and folk music performances from Winit Suksa School band from Lopburi province.
  • 26 April: The closing highlight features the outdoor drama "Kaew Na Ma" and the eagerly awaited Likay performance by the Chaiya Mitchai troupe.

Special! Every night from 20:00 onwards, outdoor films will be screened, including "Sawasdee Bangkok," "Khun Chai The Cliche," "The Stone: Real Buddha, Fake Man," and "Red Envelope Ghost," offering a classic atmosphere to enjoy.

How to get to the National Museum Bangkok (Sanam Luang).

Since the event is held in Rattanakosin Island where traffic can be heavy, it is recommended to travel by the following methods.

  • MRT: Get off at Sanam Chai Station (Exit 1), then take a bus or tuk-tuk to the museum.
  • Chao Phraya Express Boat: Disembark at Tha Chang or Tha Phra Chan piers, then walk a short distance. This method is highly recommended in the evening for enjoying the river view.
  • Bus routes: 3, 15, 32, 47, 53, 59, 70, 82, 203, and 503.
  • Private car: Parking available at the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration car park (Bang Lamphu) or Wat Mahathat (fee applies and limited space).
