When mentioning“Suan Siam, Bangkok’s Sea”or Siam Amazing Park, many are well familiar with it as an amusement and water park that holds cherished childhood memories for multiple generations of Thai people.
However, this legendary venue is now facing a major crisis due to the 2026 flooding, which forced a six-month closure for renovations. Let us take a journey back through the history of this amusement park together.
Suan Siam was founded by Chaiwat Luengamornlert and officially opened in November 1980 on more than 300 rai of land in Khan Na Yao district, Bangkok.
With a vision to provide Bangkokians and Thai people a world-class recreational spot, its key highlight wasthe “artificial sea”so vast it inspired the catchy slogan“Suan Siam, Bangkok’s Sea.”
Suan Siam’s grandeur extended beyond Thailand, as in 2009 it earned Guinness World Records recognition as“the world’s largest artificial sea.”
Later, as times changed, to modernize and attract global tourists, the park underwent a major rebranding in 2019, changing its name to Siam Amazing Park and dividing its attractions into five main zones:
Having endured over four decades of ups and downs, Siam Amazing Park recently faced a severe challenge from the 2026 flood disaster. Reports indicated that floodwaters inundated large parts of the amusement and water park, prompting management to announce a temporary six-month closure for urgent restoration and repairs, with preliminary damage estimates exceeding 100 million baht.
Although children and many visitors will need to wait before returning to Suan Siam, given its strong foundation and deep connection with the community, it is believed that after restoration, Siam Amazing Park will reopen its doors to once again bring smiles and laughter to all.
