Travelers and sea enthusiasts prepare, as the time to set off to the Andaman's gems has arrived. Surin and Similan Islands National Parks in Phang Nga province officially open from 15 October 2026 to 15 May 2027, a season inviting travelers across the skies to experience fine white sands, mirror-clear sea waters, and a rich underwater world for a full seven months.
Surin Islands National Park is located about 60 kilometers from Kuraburi Pier, consisting of five main islands, including world-class diving spots such as“Richelieu Rock”renowned as the most pristine shallow coral reef area in Thailand.
Visitors can enjoy snorkeling around the reefs, long-tail boat rides to experience the traditional lifestyle of the Moken sea gypsies, and relax by the sea breeze at Ao Chong Kad and Ao Mai Ngam.
Travel is by speedboat from Kuraburi Pier, taking about 1.5 hours. Overnight stays are possible on North Surin Island, either in park accommodations at Ao Chong Kad or camping at Ao Mai Ngam, with prior booking of lodging and boat tickets required. For those with limited time, one-day trips are also available.
Similan Islands National Park, where“Similan”means“nine”in Malay, encompasses 11 islands, with Tachai Island currently closed for ecological restoration. Located about 70 kilometers off Phang Nga coast, it features famous scenery such as the Sail Rock on Island 8 (Similan Island) and offers world-class coral and marine life diving at Island 4 (Miang Island).
Travel to Similan is recommended via one-day tour packages by speedboat or catamaran from Thap Lamu Pier in Thai Muang district, taking about 1.5 hours. Many companies provide van transfers from Phang Nga and Phuket for added convenience.
The park does not permit overnight stays on any island; visits are day trips only. Restaurants and restrooms are available on Islands 4 and 8.
Entrance fees are the same for both parks: for Thais, 100 baht per adult and 50 baht per child; for foreigners, 500 baht per adult and 250 baht per child.
Those planning to enjoy the waves and natural beauty of the Andaman this season are advised to book travel packages, accommodations, and boat tickets in advance through authorized tour operators for a smooth and fulfilling experience amidst pristine nature.
