Woman Offers Roses to Thao Wessuwan Asking for Career Success, Takes Chance Lighting Incense for Lucky Numbers

Driven by faith, a 26-year-old woman brought roses and garlands to offer to "Thao Wessuwan" at Wat Phra Thaen Sila At Saen, praying for success in her career. She took the opportunity to light incense for "lucky numbers" and bought lottery tickets to try her luck on 1 Dec 2025 GMT+7.

On 30 Nov 2025 GMT+7, reporters observed that at Wat Phra Thaen Sila At Saen Royal Monastery in Thung Yang Subdistrict, Lap Lae District, Uttaradit Province, tourists from Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, and devotees from both within and outside the province gathered to pay respects to the stone altar. The altar is a sandstone rectangle about 8 feet wide, 10 feet long, and 3 feet high, adorned with lotus petal patterns at its base. It is housed within the Chiang Saen-style mondop inside the monastery. Tradition holds that the five Buddhas of this fortunate era once sat on this altar to meditate and remained seated after enlightenment to aid sentient beings.

Devotees also visited other sacred sites within the temple, including Luang Pho Than Jai, the City Pillar Shrine of Uttaradit Province, and the gold-covered boundary markers, among many other sacred objects. They made merit and prayed for blessings, seeking luck, health, career advancement, and a life filled with good fortune.

Similarly, devotees of "Thao Wessuwan" came continuously to the temple to offer red roses and garlands to the imposing 3-meter-tall brass statue of Thao Wessuwan prominently displayed at Wat Phra Thaen Sila At Saen Royal Monastery. Some groups also brought offerings as acts of gratitude to fulfill vows made to Thao Wessuwan.

Among them, Fern, aged 26, brought red roses, garlands, flowers, incense, and candles to pay respects and pray to Thao Wessuwan. After hearing reports from various places of people achieving success in their careers or winning luck by praying to him, she came to pay respects at the City Pillar Shrine within the temple and prayed specifically for career success at the statue of Thao Wessuwan, which locals say is sacred and grants wishes when devotees sincerely make requests.

She offered red garlands, red roses, incense, and candles in front of Thao Wessuwan’s statue while praying to secure the job she hoped for. She vowed that if her wish was fulfilled, she would return with coconut water, fruits, garlands, and other offerings to express her gratitude.

At the same time, she also prayed for lucky numbers with the government lottery drawing approaching. She reached into a container to pick numbered ping-pong balls for luck and lit incense shaped like the red Thao Wessuwan. When the incense burned out, the number 414 appeared. She took a photo of the number with her phone and coincidentally saw a lottery vendor nearby, so she used the number to buy lottery tickets for the upcoming draw on 1 Dec 2025 GMT+7.

Local residents told reporters that at Wat Phra Thaen Sila At Saen Royal Monastery, both spiritual tourists and local people regularly come to pray for luck, wealth, and career success. Those who succeed often return to make offerings in gratitude, frequently at the City Pillar Shrine and to the 3-meter-tall golden brass statue of Thao Wessuwan. Devotees regularly present offerings there after realizing their wishes, whether for lottery wins, career advancement, or health.
