1,000-Year-Old Chapel at Wat Pa Lelai Hosts Ceremony to Consecrate Phra Pitta Maha Uthum Amulets Lottery Enthusiasts Seek Lucky Numbers

The 1,000-year-old chapel at Wat Pa Lelai in Suphan Buri Province opened for a ceremony to consecrate Phra Pitta Maha Uthum amulets. Devotees did not miss spotting "lucky numbers" from auspicious incense to try their luck for the New Year.

On 25 December 2025 at Wat Pa Lelai Worawihan, Mueang District, Suphan Buri Province, Ms. Wannapha Kiattipongsa, Regional Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Central Region, together with Ms. Duangjai Kanthiranon, Director of TAT Suphan Buri Office, and local officials attended the Buddhist consecration ceremony for the Phra Pitta Maha Uthum amulets, Merit-Enhancing Edition, the second consecration event held inside the 1,000-year-old Maha Uthum chapel at Wat Pa Lelai. Luang Ta Daeng, abbot of Wat Manaw and deputy head monk of Mueang Suphan Buri district, along with four senior monks, led the consecration prayers. The first consecration was led by Luang Pu Sombun Piyatammo, a 104-year-old senior monk from Suphan Buri, who blessed the amulets to be given away free as New Year gifts to visitors paying respects inside the Maha Uthum chapel in Suphan Buri and Ang Thong provinces during the period from 25 December 2025 to 4 January 2026 only.

Ms. Duangjai Kanthiranon, Director of TAT Suphan Buri Office, and tourists were required to register to receive a passport from participating temples and then visit the temples along the Maha Uthum chapel pilgrimage route in Mueang Suphan Buri District, starting from Wat Pa Lelai, Wat Khae, Wat Saraphi, Wat No Phuttharakhun, and Wat Phra Ruup, as well as Wat Hua Pho in Song Phi Nong District, Wat Ban Krang in Sri Prachan District, and Wat Doem Bang Wat Khwang Weluwan in Doem Bang District. In Ang Thong Province, three temples—Wat Fang, Wat Ban Pa, and Wat Chaisittharam—were included. Visitors collected stamps at designated points in each temple; those who collected stamps from three or more temples received a Phra Pitta Maha Uthum amulet as a souvenir from TAT Suphan Buri Office. Prizes could be claimed at the participating temples and the TAT Suphan Buri Office.

Participants visiting the temples eagerly lit incense sticks to seek lucky numbers. Two incense sticks showed the same numbers: 8-6-5. Ms. Duangjai Kanthiranon, Director of TAT Suphan Buri Office, prayed for luck while lighting the incense and took these numbers to try her luck in the New Year lottery.
