Lottery hopefuls aiming for good fortune performed a ritual to request lucky numbers from "Phaya Bueng" according to traditional beliefs, successfully obtaining this period's "lucky numbers" to try their luck welcoming the New Year.
On 26 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters observed that on a grassy area at a private home in Ang Thong province, lottery enthusiasts conducted a faith-based ritual by writing numbers 1-10 on three sets of paper, announcing their intentions to Phaya Bueng before dropping the papers into its hole.
They then waited anxiously for Phaya Bueng to bring out the numbered papers to place at the hole's entrance, following the believers' tradition, hoping to end the old year and welcome the new one. Phaya Bueng brought out two pieces of paper placed at the entrance, revealing the numbers 18 and 81, which the participants hope to use for the lottery draw on 2 Jan 2026 GMT+7.
