Devotees flock to pay respects to “Thao Wessuwan with Rahu” at Khao Chong Lom Temple, bustling as they welcome New Year 2026, hoping for blessings and fortune; many are rewarded with “lucky numbers” to try their luck in this lottery draw.
On 2 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reports say that the atmosphere at Khao Chong Lom Temple, Khao Kan Song Subdistrict, Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, on 1 Jan was lively. Many locals and tourists from Chonburi and nationwide traveled with their families to pay respects to the unique “Thao Wessuwan with Rahu (Thao Thong Lon)” statue towering at the temple’s front plaza, seeking blessings and luck for the New Year 2026.
Devotees brought offerings and lit incense sticks to divine “lucky numbers” as guidance for purchasing lottery tickets for the draw on 2 Jan 2026. It is believed that “Thao Thong Lon” continuously grants luck, especially to those who have previously made vows and returned to fulfill them by offering traditional dances, hiring dancers, or regularly setting off many firecrackers.
This large “Thao Wessuwan with Rahu” statue was conceived and created by Phra Kru Phawanawachilangkar, abbot of Khao Chong Lom Temple. It was consecrated in a ritual and eye-opening ceremony on 24 July 2022 by renowned monks nationwide. Since then, 18 devotees who prayed here have won first prizes, the latest being a lucky winner from Pathum Thani Province, which has further increased faith and drawn crowds to pay respects.
Meanwhile, the temple arranged multiple areas for merit-making activities, including coffin donations, offering Sanghadana (monk’s requisites), and worshipping sacred objects. Visitors participated in these acts of charity to bring good fortune for the New Year.
For this lottery draw, the most noticed number from the incense divination is 745. Ms. Waraporn Saelao, a factory worker in the WHA Industrial Estate, said she received this number and plans to use it for this draw on 2 Jan 2026.
