Woman Seeks Luck from Thao Wessuwan at Wat Klang Bang Phra, Smiles with Lucky Numbers

Driven by faith, a woman who dreamed of “Thao Wessuwan” at Wat Klang Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom took advantage of the auspicious New Year to visit and pray for luck, also reaching into a golden jar to obtain lucky numbers for gambling.

On 8 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reports said that on the morning of 7 Jan at Wat Klang Bang Phra, Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province, many devotees came to pay respects to the sacred objects inside the temple. Since it was still the New Year festival month, worshippers continuously visited to make merit for good fortune.

The main attraction is the Luang Pho Somwang statue, a sacred Buddha in the Mara Vichai posture standing over 30 meters tall, revered by both Thai and foreign visitors. The atmosphere was lively, with people making merit by applying gold leaf, praying at an outdoor blessing spot, gilding the statue's right hand, and offering Sanghathan (monk's offerings) to monks for auspiciousness.

Another key point of interest is the Chulamanee Pavilion, housing the ancient statue of Thao Wessuwan. This statue was donated by Luang Pho Nueng of Wat Chulamanee to Luang Pho Phut, a former abbot and respected master who has passed away. It was placed at Wat Klang Bang Phra for devotees to worship and seek blessings.

The current abbot, Phra Khru Srisutakorn of Wat Klang Bang Phra, has installed a new over 2-meter-tall blackened cement statue of Thao Wessuwan for devotees to worship. Around the statue are densely tied red sacred cloths and seven short incense sticks in auspicious colors representing the seven days of the week—red, yellow, pink, green, orange, blue, and purple—set for worshippers to pray and draw lucky numbers. Visitors also draw eggs from a golden jar, following the belief that any numbers obtained are blessings given by Thao Wessuwan.

Ms. Saowanee Boonpradap, 50, an organic vegetable farmer from Ratchaburi Province and one of the worshippers at Wat Klang Bang Phra, said she believes deeply in the sacred power of Thao Wessuwan concerning health, luck, and safety during travel and dangers. At the end of 2025, she dreamed of Thao Wessuwan standing and watching her at the temple. She bowed, believing he wished to grant blessings, so she came to the temple following her dream.

Taking advantage of the auspicious early year timing, she prayed to Thao Wessuwan and drew an egg from the golden jar, receiving the numbers 9 0 4. She considers these lucky numbers for this lottery round and said if she wins a big prize, she will offer 100 dozen red drinks as thanks.
