Spring Discovered Amid Earth Fill at Buddha Relic Construction Site, Locals Light Incense for Lucky Numbers

A spring was found bubbling up amid a high earth fill at the Buddha relic construction site in a temple in Sisaket. Locals believe it to be sacred water, and by lighting incense sticks for auspicious numbers, they obtained "lucky numbers" for the 1 February 2026 lottery draw.

On 27 Jan 2026, reporters traveled to Wat Nontiao in Non Khun Subdistrict, Yang Chum Noi District, Sisaket Province, after learning that locals had found a spring emerging from an earth mound that the temple had filled in preparation for constructing the Yang Chum Noi Buddha relic.

Upon arrival, they met Phra Maha Phutthayanphuwat, Abbot of Lin Fa Subdistrict, along with Mr. Prommet Pathumsut, 55, a local resident, who guided reporters around the temple grounds and the area designated for constructing the Yang Chum Noi Buddha relic, including the spot where the spring was found.

Phra Maha Phutthayanphuwat explained that the area was originally a low, dry plain where the temple stored timber. After dismantling the timber storage, new soil was added to raise the area about 12 meters above the original ground level to build the Yang Chum Buddha relic, following a dream or vision of Luang Pho Phra Kru Sirikanapirak, the abbot of Yang Chum Noi District. The filling took about five years. When digging to lay pipes for the main pillars, a spring suddenly appeared. Initially, the abbot doubted it was a miracle or sacred sign but observed the continuous spring, which flowed even during the dry season around April–May, only drying briefly on the 15th lunar day. This phenomenon has lasted nearly two years and is considered unusual since springs typically require digging deep underground in flat areas, not in a high fill. Devotees from South Korea have brought the sacred water for bathing, sprinkling, or as holy water, reporting successful results from their prayers.

Mr. Prommet revealed that after paying respects to the abbot of Yang Chum Noi District, the abbot told him that he had a vision of a pair of nagas playing and spouting water in this area. The abbot and locals held a ritual to honor them. At that time, Mr. Prommet prayed that if the area was truly sacred, a miracle would occur allowing him to win the lottery. Months later, upon returning, he found the naturally emerging spring, which he described as a miracle he wishes others would see for themselves.

Reporters measured the depth of the spring's hole with a stick, finding it about 1.6 meters deep. However, the earth fill mound is about 12 meters higher than the original ground, raising questions about the water's source. Moreover, the water continuously flows, overflowing the hole's edge.

Additionally, locals brought incense, candles, and incense sticks bearing auspicious numbers to perform a ritual seeking luck from the spring. Before lighting the incense, the number 634 was seen.
