On 29 January 2026, it was reported that at a bottled water factory located in Village No. 5, Ninkho Subdistrict, Klaeng District, Rayong Province, a clip was recorded at around 1 p.m. showing a gecko fighting a green snake.
Ms. Benyaporn, an eyewitness, revealed that at about 1 p.m. she heard the gecko making sounds like it was being struck or restrained on the factory's high wall. When she looked, she saw a large green snake about 2 meters long constricting the gecko, while the gecko bit the snake in return.
Lottery enthusiasts saw the green snake coiling around the gecko resembling the numbers 987 and 981. Many hoped to use these numbers for the 1 February 2026 draw. The snake constricted tightly, causing the gecko's legs to spread, eyes to widen, and tail to point upward against the concrete wall. They remained locked for over two hours until the green snake was certain the gecko had died, then gradually loosened its grip.
