
Lottery enthusiasts flocked to see the "lucky numbers" on the ends of 1,000 firecrackers set off during the grand worship ceremony for Phor Khun Rattanawat in Kanchanaburi Province. They rushed to buy lottery tickets, which quickly sold out, hoping for luck in the 1/2/26 draw.
At 09:00 on 29 January 2026, the Khun Rattanawat Foundation, located along Saeng Chuto Outer Road in Tha Muang District, Kanchanaburi Province, held a worship ceremony honoring Phor Khun Rattanawat. The event was led by Mr. Suchon Tiwakorn, chairman of the foundation, accompanied by Mr. Adisak Rungrojthanakul, head of rescue and emergency services, Mr. Chaiyut Wattano, advisor, various district directors, and volunteers from the foundation. They gathered to pay respect to the newly renovated Phor Khun Rattanawat shrine for the foundation’s auspicious prosperity.
During the ceremony, 1,000 firecrackers were ignited to bring good fortune. Foundation volunteers eagerly observed the numbers on the firecracker ends, which showed 146 and 72. They then went to purchase lottery tickets bearing these numbers from local vendors, hoping to gain luck from the auspicious event.
Mr. Adisak Rungrojthanakul, head of rescue and emergency services, invited passersby to come and pay respects for good luck. Many foundation volunteers also joined the Brahmin-style ceremony, which included offerings of incense, garlands, savory and sweet foods, and fruits for blessings. Besides worshiping Phor Khun Rattanawat, attendees also made merit by donating coffins and paying homage to other deities inside the foundation.
According to legend, Phor Khun Rattanawat was a heroic figure famed for his bravery in the Nine Armies War at Thung Lat Ya field. He led troops valiantly until his final moments, showing unwavering loyalty to the land. His story of sacrifice has been passed down through generations, earning deep respect and faith from local people who continue to believe in his sacred power today.
